Cloudy and windy today, rain returns tomorrow

We’re tracking overcast skies across the area for most of the day. Gradual clearing will take place throughout the afternoon, but we won’t see nearly as much sunshine as we saw yesterday. We’ll call the skies ‘partly sunny’ this afternoon. Today is a bit of a transition day, as a weather-maker moves in tomorrow. Breezy south winds remain intact with gusts up to 30mph at times. Expect highs temperatures some 10° above average, again today – tracking them into the lower 70s.

Tomorrow’s weather-maker looked like a ‘slam dunk’ for Northeast Kansas a few days ago – now, not so much. A cold front will be slicing through the country’s mid-section, but it will be draped just to our east. In other words, the BEST chances for rain will be exclusive to our southern/easternmost counties. Places west of Topeka will stay mainly dry, with cooler weather surging in rather quickly. Skies clear and so does the rain, heading into Friday – expect temperatures in the 40s and 50s on Friday under mostly sunny skies.

The weather stays sun-filled and tranquil through the extended period. Highs will linger in the lower and middle 60s through next Tuesday. Save for Thursday, our next best chance for rain won’t be until next Wednesday – the dry and mild November continues. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Have a great day!
